Commercial Development Projects has proposed a pair of industrial units totalling more than 100,000 sq ft on land east of Irlam Wharf Road.
The plans go before Salford City Council’s planning and transportation regulatory panel this Thursday, a session that will take place at Two New Bailey under the new Government guidelines barring virtual meetings. Approval is recommended by officers.
CDP’s plans cover a 6.7-acre site in an area characterised by warehousing, sitting on the edge of the Northbank industrial estate. Holdings in the area include a UPS depot, Universal Container Services, the former Irlam Container terminal and the Northbank wastewater treatment site. The Manchester Ship Canal is directly to the east. ....

A Rochdale civil engineering company has marked its 40th anniversary by announcing a management restructure.
Hovington was established in 1981 and has evolved into a specialist groundwork, highways, remediation, utilities and drainage contractor working across a number of sectors including retail, industrial, commercial, public sector and student accommodation. 
Clients have included IKEA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, John Lewis, Airbus, Safestore, Universal Container Services and Lidl.
From March 2021, the company announced that the founders’ sons - John Maloney Jr and Martin Quinn – would be exiting the business with John’s son Jack Maloney becoming the financial director, Mike Penny appointed as the construction director and Nick Green assuming the role of managing director. ....
