MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is accused of trespassing on the University of Memphis’ campus with a loaded rifle.
An affidavit says a UofM police officer responded to a report about an armed party in a campus parking lot and found Michael Bowser who the officer determined was trespassing.
The affidavit says the officer discovered Bowser had an outstanding warrant for robbery and found a loaded AR-15-style rifle in Bowser’s vehicle with a round already in the chamber. ....

Child trauma injuries rise during pandemic at Le Bonheur


The trauma unit at Le Bonheur Children s Hospital has kept busy during the last year.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. More children were shot, injured in accidents or abused during the pandemic months based on the patients the trauma unit has seen at Le Bonheur Children s Hospital.
The hospital reports acute trauma cases are up and they re calling it the COVID fallout .
Dr. Regan Williams, Le Bonheur Trauma Services Medical Director, said even when she s not at work, she gets a notification every time a child trauma patient comes in.
“It became instead of one having injury a week to now it’s becoming every day and the injuries we’re getting are more severe,  Dr. Williams said. ....

ETSU graduate commissions with U.S. Army Air Corps


Azael Rodriguez-Roman has joined the ranks of more than 1,500 cadets commissioned at East Tennessee State University since its ROTC Program began more than 65 years ago.
Rodriguez-Roman was a member of the Eddie Reed Range Challenge Team and completed Nursing Summer Training at Fort Carson, Colorado, in summer 2019. He took the oath of office earlier this month during a small ceremony led by Maj. Kent Monas, professor of military science at ETSU. Rodriguez-Roman commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Army Nursing Corps.
He received a bachelor’s of nursing degree in December and upon successful completion of board exam requirements will attend Basic Officer Leaders Course in Sam Houston, Texas. ....
