HOUSTON – The first board meeting of the new year means the election of the Board of Supervisors President and Vice President of the Board.

The Decatur Bulldogs Booster Club has announced the 18th annual Run with the Dogs race will be held on Jan. 29. The pup trot, which is a one-mile race, begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9 a.m.

Shadowmoor and Hilldale Drives in Decatur are set to get a new sidewalk on the west side of Shadowmoor Drive and the north side of Hilldale Drive. The Decatur City Commission approved a sidewalk plan for the area on Monday, Nov. 1. The plan aims to improve the pedestrian connectivity in the neighborhood between Winnona Park Elementary School, Talley Street Upper Elementary School and Legacy Park.

The Decatur City Commission will meet on Monday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. for a work session and at 7:30 p.m. for a regular meeting. The meetings are held in person at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street, as well as Zoom.

City Schools of Decatur could be getting a new early childhood learning center within the next five years. The School Board, at its Oct. 26 meeting, discussed the initial draft of the district's five-year master plan, which totals $57 million, and the projects the board would like to see come to fruition.
