An area synonymous with Manchester's West Indian community, Moss Side hosts the annual carnival parade which winds through the streets on its way to Alexandra Park. A neighbourhood still dominated by red brick terraces, the area is split in two by Princess Parkway, bordered to the east by Upper Lloyd Street. For decades Moss Side was home to Manchester City whose Maine Road ground dominated the area – this was demolished in 2003 and has now been replaced with a housing development.
