Authorities have released a more detailed accounting of the events leading to last week’s deadly shootings at an Upper Macungie Wawa, disclosing that one of the injured victims is in critical condition and that the shooter, Za Uk Lian, had been diagnosed with COVID-19 nine days earlier.

It began on Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township, when two motorists, a man and a woman, had some sort of encounter in the predawn darkness Wednesday.
Whatever transpired between them authorities have not offered details didn t seem to unduly bother the woman, who heard a loud noise but exited the highway to get something to eat at the Wawa on Route 100. Not until she returned to her car with her sandwich did she notice a bullet hole in the vehicle.
Authorities said the driver of the other car, a white Corolla identified as 45-year-old Za Uk Lian of South Whitehall Township later pulled into the same Wawa.
