JOB FAIR: OKCPS seeks early childhood teachers

In the last month, before school starts, the need for child care teachers is great.Today, Oklahoma City Public Schools hosted a career fair to find qualified teachers – specifically for the district’s childcare centers. The job fair took place at Emerson North High School and ended at 7 p.m. Qualified job-seekers were interviewed on the spot. The district is hiring for positions at Emerson North, the U.S. Grant Child Development Center and Gatewood Early Learning Center. The Gatewood center will open at the end of July. Applicants were expected to have experience working with children from 6 weeks to 4 years old. Benefits include a competitive salary and benefits. The district also offers a child care discount to employees. “I do get a lot of childcare teachers because they like being on the same school schedule as their child, so that is sometimes a draw, as opposed to working year-round,” said Stephanie Hinton, the district’s director of early childhood. "Really working to support the family unit, and you know that we're starting young, they're going to be OKCPS students and OKCPS graduates down the line, so we're excited to be able to invest in them early."The district is also looking for special education, math and science teachers. Many of these positions come with a one-time sign-on bonus. You can go to the OKCPS website for more information on qualifications for the jobs and pay.
