Even though vaccine eligibility is expanding, the local health department will continue to prioritize the most at-risk.
The state health department today is expanding eligibility to individuals 50 and up with medical conditions and disabilities, as well as caregiver family members and guardians aged 16 and older of children who have special health care needs. Then on Monday the 22nd, eligibility will expand to everyone aged 50 and over.
Despite this, the Livingston County Health Department will continue to prioritize individuals aged 65 and older who already signed up to receive the vaccine. They estimate this is between 13,000 and 15,000 seniors. In a release, they note that while vaccine supply is increasing, the demand is still not being met locally and they ask for the publicâs patience. ....

How odd that I woke one morning last summer and found myself to be 65. Weirder still, I had entered a high-risk age group to die from COVID-19.
No panic. I did what they told me: masking, social distancing, working from home. I felt fortunate, and in January was eager to claim my first senior perk and move to the front of the eligibility line for the COVID vaccine.
Following the advice of Gov. Ralph Northam’s administration, I filled out the “Vaccination Interest Form on the Henrico County Health Department’s website, which said I would be given updates on how to register for the shot. I was troubled that the county offers no verification it has received the form. ....

AHS Plans Clinic for Overbooked Appointments To Get COVID-19 Shots

Sonora, CA – Adventist Health Sonora has scheduled a new weekend clinic to vaccinate more than 500 Tuolumne County residents booted from last Saturday’s clinic due to a computer glitch that left them with no shot and no new date to get one.
As reported here, when that clinic was opened to those 65 and older the website was overwhelmed, and the scheduling system malfunctioned overbooking 550 appointments. In a press release given out late today, hospital officials detailed, “During the week of February 15, representatives from Adventist Health Sonora will be calling all 550 people and rescheduling them, with 275 appointments available on Saturday, February 20, and 275 appointments available on Sunday, February 21.” ....
