Over 3.8 lakh people have been inoculated for coronavirus in the country so far. More than  500 adverse events following immunisation were reported, accorrding to Union Health Ministry s latest data provided Monday night. The ministry also informed about two deaths in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka post the vaccination. India on Saturday, January 16, gave the first COVID-19 vaccine shots to nearly two lakh frontline healthcare and sanitary workers as Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolled out the world’s largest inoculation drive against the pandemic that has caused 1,52,093 deaths and upended millions of lives in the country. ....

Pakistan approves AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine
AstraZeneca s Covid-19 vaccine has been approved for emergency use in Pakistan, the health minister said on Saturday, making it the first coronavirus vaccine to get the green light for use in the South Asian country.
Pakistan, which is seeing rising numbers of coronavirus infections, said its vaccines would be procured from multiple sources.

Resident doctors at Delhi s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Saturday expressed reservations over taking Bharat Biotech s Covaxin due to its incomplete clinical trial data and requested the hospital administration to vaccinate them with the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine Covishield .
In a letter to the medical superintendent, the doctors wrote, The residents are a bit apprehensive about the lack of complete trial in case of Covaxin and might not participate in huge numbers thus defeating the purpose of vaccination. We request you to vaccinate us with Covishield which has completed all stages of the trial before its rollout. ....
