Vaccine eligibility expanded to anyone 18 years of age and older in the Northern Health Region, while community eligibility was expanded to the Seven Oaks West neighbourhood in Winnipeg, the province released on Monday.

The province recorded 529 new cases of COVID-19 during the weekend alongside three virus-related deaths.
Of new cases, 59 were in Prairie Mountain Health, which joins the balance of the province in ushering in the third wave of the virus with spiking numbers.
The Westman-based health region recorded 166 active cases Sunday, which is the highest it has been since mid-December, although it came close on Jan. 29, when 164 active cases were recorded.
The region’s current active case total is a far cry from the 17 recorded March 11.
Active cases in Prairie Mountain Health include 55 in the Porcupine Mountain district, followed by 28 in Brandon, 24 in Agassiz Mountain, 17 in Turtle Mountain and 11 in Dauphin, with the balance spread through other districts. ....

The province is expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to include all adults who live or work in the Northern Regional Health Authority and expanding community-based eligibility to Seven Oaks West in Winnipeg, it was announced Monday.
“To protect themselves and protect their families and their communities, people who are now eligible should make their appointments as soon as possible,” said Dr. Joss Reimer, medical lead of the Vaccine Implementation Task Force at a virtual press conference Monday. “The vaccine is one way we can slow the spread of this virus and help minimize the height of the third wave of COVID-19. However, we only can deliver the vaccine that we have so it is critical for people to also follow public health orders, stay home when they’re sick, physically distance, and get tested if they have symptoms.” ....
