(La Vergne, Tenn.) One man is alive Wednesday morning, thanks to the quick actions by La Vergne Police Officers and fire fighters after a late night pursuit on Tuesday (3/9/2021).
Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, La Vergne officers attempted to pull over a driver on Murfreesboro Road for excessive speeding. The driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit. He ran a red light at Waldron Road and Murfreesboro Road, crashing into an SUV before flipping and catching his vehicle on fire.
Police confirm that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle as officers used fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Once the fire department arrived on scene, they were able to safely cut the driver out of the car. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. ....

Lisa Ward says her son s remains are missing. Matthew Ward was admitted to the hospital with a serious medical condition and died on Oct. 1. Ward adopted her special needs son ten years ago: a loving child with a wonderful smile. ....

Trey Thomas scored 14 points, Clevon Brown made two free throws with 10.4 seconds left for a two-possession lead and short-handed Vanderbilt beat Mississippi 75-70 on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak. NASHVILLE, Tn. - Devontae Shuler and Romello White combined for 42 points while each shooting over 50 percent from the floor, but the Vanderbilt Commodores found success from their bench and from long range as they upset the Ole Miss 75-70 in Memorial Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. 
The Rebels (13-10, 8-8 SEC) shot 44 percent (25 of 57) from the floor with Shuler leading the way with 25 points (10 of 20) followed by White’s 17 points (6 of 10) to go along with eight rebounds.  ....
