Bad Axe 68, Vassar 25
BAD AXE The Bad Axe boys basketball team returned to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, overpowering the visiting Vassar Vulcans on its way to a 68-25 victory.
The Hatchets (3-1, 2-1) controlled the game from the opening whistle, hitting shots from the perimeter and limiting Vassar’s offensive opportunities. The Vulcans (4-1, 2-1) labored to keep up with the Bad Axe offense, which used its speed to convert turnovers into easy points. In the first quarter, the Hatchets outscored Vassar 28-4, and Bad Axe led 38-14 heading into halftime. ....

North Huron 77, Bay City All Saints 68
BAY CITY The North Huron varsity boys basketball team opened the 2020-2021 season with a 77-68 road win at Bay City All Saints on Friday night.
After staking themselves to a 50-42 lead at halftime, the Warriors held steady in the second half as the Cougars fought to get back in the game.
Noah Koth led the Warriors with 24 points, and Will Case was close behind with 22. Mason Brown had 11 points, Ryan Schorno had 8 and Joe Weiss had 5.
North Huron head coach Matt Shears said the Warriors had the chance to “knock some of the rust off” on Friday night after being sidelined by the suspension of contact sports in Michigan. North Huron’s offense was clicking at the beginning of the game, he said, but the lack of playing time became apparent as fouls and turnovers piled up. ....
