Carroll Edward Strange – Fairfield

Carroll Edward Strange, 88 of Fairfield passed away at 6:55 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Born on October 4, 1934, in Flora, IL to Delbert and Wilma Gladys (Yates) Strange, he loved animals and was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following his kids and grandkids sports. Carroll was well known for working in oilfield services, starting at Fluid Pack Pump in Clay City before moving to Fairfield in 1960 where he continued to work for them until 1983. He then started Strange Pump Services in Fairfield with his sons Mark and Doug where he worked until his retirement in 2004. Carroll was also a longtime member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge. Carroll is survived by sons Mark (Maria) Strange of Flora, IL, Scott Strange of Riverview, FL, and Doug (Beth) Strange of Fairfield, stepsons Randy Green of Harrisburg, IL and Roger Green of Burnt Prairie, IL, 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren. Ruth M. Minor, 95, of Fairfield, passed away at her home at 3:08am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Ruth was born on August 11, 1927, to William and Emma (Doepke) Hensley. Born at home, she was the baby of the family. She was proud that her grandmother Doepke had immigrated to the U.S. from Germany and Ruth frequently spoke German, teaching her grandchildren German words. Ruth's mother died when Ruth was just 13 years old and she then lived with various family members, becoming independent and hard-working at a young age. As a young woman, Ruth resided in Chicago and worked at Portable Electric. She later moved back to Southern Illinois. She owned and operated the Aden Grocery Store in the 60's. Ruth was a devout Christian and always spoke of her faith. She attended the King's Chapel Church in Fairfield. Ruth's passion was her grandchildren, and she lived for time spent with them. Teresa Lynn Draper – Fairfield

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Teresa Lynn Draper of Fairfield, IL. She passed away on December 19 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. Teresa was 68 years old. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend of 21 years, George; brothers Richard (Barbara) of Bluford and Fred (Jan) of Edwardsville, sister Cindy McGee of Bluford; sister-in-law Linda Hodges of Fairfield; 8 nieces and nephews; and by many special friends. Teresa was born at Fairfield Memorial Hospital on March 14, 1954. She attended schools in Grayville and Fairfield, graduating from FCHS in 1972. She was a member of the high school band and was proud to become First Chair of the flute section. On December 15, 2001, she married the love of her life, George Draper, son of the late George and Joyce Draper of Fairfield.
