A new study by NASA’s Glenn Research Center has looked at the possibility of supersonic passenger jets. Its “high-speed strategy” is mooting commercial flights that travel at up to Mach 4 – over 3,000 miles per hour – starting with transoceanic routes.

The new supersonic NASA passenger jet is being developed to travel more than twice the speed of a F/A-18 fighter jet – which has a potential blistering speed of 3,300 mph (Mach 4).
The thought of supersonic travel has been mooted again – by none other than NASA, which reckons that a New York-London flight could take as little as 90 minutes in the future.
