Judging from the society’s AGM last spring, it was safe to assume live theatre and music was alive and well in Cold Lake. But the Cold Lake Entertainment Society announced in late November the doors to the Grand Parlour Theatre were closing at the end of January, and the five-night sold-out run of the musical comedy “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” in December would be the last. ....
Housing and Development Newsletter Mitra Cline’s “Transformation by Fire” is part video collage, part dance piece, performed by Brooklyn Snyder and inspired by wildfires. Directors Kate Bergstrom, Josiah Davis, Sara Rademacher, Daniel Herrera and Daniel Andres Blanco worked over Zoom and via phone to adapt to COVID-19 circumstances, with Rademacher and Blanco spearheading the project as co-producers. The result is a new way for the community to collaborate, and a new direction for On the Verge. The multimedia, multi-creator collaboration came in response to last year’s stay-at-home orders. With stages shuttered, the On the Verge Festival called upon area creators to develop works from a distance. The filmed works-in-progress are provocative, heartfelt and moving. ....
