PM Citu: All prerequisites are in place to provide 1,600 ICU beds for COVID patients by Sunday

Prime Minister Florin Citu declared on Thursday, at the end of the Government meeting, that all the prerequisites are in place for 1,600 ICU beds for COVID patients to be provided by Sunday.
"Today I met with the directors of the DSPs [the Public Health Directorates]. Now I have met with the managers of the COVID hospitals. By Sunday all the prerequisites are in place to reach this target - 1,600 beds - and then plans are being made to get to 1,800. It's a battle that we fight every day. I understand that these contests also solve the personnel issues. We will monitor the situation and I will go to the CNCCI [the National Intervention Management and Coordination Centre] meetings, I will stay close to the health system during this period and I will support all the efforts of this system," the prime minister told a press conference held at Victoria Palace of Government.

PM Citu rules out coalition guarantees, overregulation beyond Constitution

Prime Minister Florin Citu said today that no extra regulations can be enacted, other than what the Constitution already provides, for setting in place guarantees for the USR PLUS partners that no other ministers of the ruling alliance will be sacked without prior notice.
"I won't comment on scenarios. At the same time, I don't think we can regulate more than what the Constitution regulates," Citu told a press conference at the Victoria Palace of Government.
As regards the request of the leaders of the USR PLUS political alliance for the coalition leaders to meet as soon as possible, the Prime Minister replied that such a meeting will take place on Monday, as every week, agerpres.ro confirms.

Head of vaccination campaign: Vaccine intent at 50 pct at least, no weakening trend

The vaccine intention hasn't weakened in Romania, as sociological data shows it standing at 50 percent at least, president of the National COVID Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) Valeriu Gheorghita said on Tuesday.
"I don't think there is a decrease in vaccination interest. The drop in the number of people on the waiting list is due to the fact that someone who doesn't confirm the appointment is removed from the list exactly in order to facilitate the notification of the others. That would be one aspect. The second aspect is the envisaged possibility of getting the shot at family doctors - this has most likely led many people to wait until they have this possibility. So, from our standpoint, there is no decrease in the intention to vaccinate, quite the contrary, sociological data shows a vaccine intent of at least 50 percent," Gheorghita told today a press conference at the Victoria Palace of Government, agerpres.ro confirms.

PM Citu: Emergency Ordinance on freezing of pension point for 2021, adopted by Government

The Government approved the emergency ordinance on reducing structural expenditures, which provides, among other things, for maintaining the value of the pension point at 1,442 lei in 2021 and eliminating the 30 percent COVID bonus granted to Prefecture staff, Prime Minister Florin Citu announced, on Thursday.
"The emergency ordinance on some fiscal-budgetary measures was approved, as well as for the amendment and completion of some normative acts. This is the emergency ordinance we needed to be able to adopt the budget law. This ordinance will be published in the Official Journal and, after that, tomorrow, we will have a Government meeting in which we will approve the 2021 budget law," said Citu, at Victoria Palace of Government.
