The Washington County Common Pleas courtrooms are in the process of getting a sound system upgrade thanks to more than $20,000 in COVID relief funds.
“We’re now during COVID times during jury trials and (the sound system) seemed to work, but I wanted to make sure everyone could hear clearly,” said Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi.
He said he didn’t want the jury to not hear all the evidence and miss something important.
“I want everyone to have a fair jury trial,” he said.
Assignment Commissioner Angie Stevens said the upgrades have been in the works for almost two years. She said retired Common Pleas Judge Randall Burnworth was originally in courtroom A, and when he retired the first time in December 2018, Kerenyi moved into the bigger courtroom.
