Memorial Real Estate Group, a company founded by R.I. businessman Michael Mota, announced this week that it has renovated part of the former hospital building in Pawtucket for use by Amos House. But the state’s housing department and the homeless services provider both say they are not working with Mota on the project.

A visit by the Rhode Island Building Trades council noted several issues at the site in February. The city’s stop work order notes “there are no active building permits for the interior demolition” and “a business [is] operating illegally” on the site.
