Cirrus adds Performance to Vision Jet 21 July 2021 Cirrus Aircraft yesterday unveiled the SF50 G2+ Vision jet, which features enhanced take-off performance thanks to an optimised thrust profile. According to Cirrus, the dorsal-mounted Williams FJ33-5A turbofan has been optimised to produce 20% more power at take-off, which the company says opens up more airport options for operators. In some cases, Cirrus believes the new performance can reduce take-off roll distances by up to 330 metres in some situations. Garmin has won the 2020 Robert J Collier Trophy for Autoland, the world’s first certified autonomous system designed to activate during an emergency to safely fly and land an aircraft without human intervention.

Autonomous flight startup Merlin Labs is coming out of stealth mode to announce that it’s raised $25 million in funding from Google Ventures and First Round Capital. The company has also struck a deal with aviation services contractor Dynamic Aviation to begin putting its pilotless plane technology into commercial operation.
