they enacted new voting restrictions last year, after the 2020 election in which turnout surged, according to a court filing by the justice department, the new restrictions limited absentee ballot drop boxes, placed regulations on third-party voter registration groups, and banned providing food and water to people standing in line to vote. the justice department is also challenging similar voting laws in georgia, texas, and arizona. since the january 6th insurrection, dozens of states have passed or considered restricted voting laws, many of which, specifically target black voters and other communities of color. meanwhile, florida governor ron desantis newly formed and in my opinion controversial, election police force. they made their first alert -- arrest thursday.

new law. quote, 90% of those voters live in cities or suburbs which are home to some of the states minority voters, who are voting heavily democratic. what are you doing to counter the impact of these particular voting restrictions? >> in this moment we do not have a passport as it relates to laws. legislation, the legislature, the georgia legislature sutter is a part-time session. they are done. we cannot come back until january. as it relates to courts, we are looking at a rogue supreme court that is hell-bent on overturning multiple decades of precedent. and the federal courts that are in tons of trouble, that are not thinking about democracy in this moment. and so our key track tactic in this moment is to make sure that we have overwhelming participation in our elections, so that we can make sure that the will of the people is reflected in the results of the elections. and that means a voter

agree georgia is one of the races to really pay attention to. can herschel walker, they flip that seat back red. i think it's possibility. i don't know what those odds are. i think it's gonna be very, very close. probably slightly above the margin of error. but that piece, we'll understand it, i read, i disagree with it. it's not based upon the numbers. it's not based on history. can you make the argument that they can again maintain a majority senate. it's very possible. but in the house, it is not likely at all, lindsey. and so i think for many democrats, they really got if you got a way to turn their voters off specifically in states like georgia. where there are more voting restrictions that will make it more challenging for people of color to get out and vote in a way that they did in 2020. that should be the primary concern. in races like that which will indeed be close. >> don, quickly, last word to you. >> this idea that abortion is going to save the day for democrats is not going to fly. white women voted for barack obama in 2008 and have not aided progressive causes historically electorally since.
