Harry G. Stephens, age 93, a resident of the town of Hopem, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the Wells House Nursing Home in Johnstown. He was born in Gloversville, NY, on August 4 1927, the son of the late Harry and Bertha Knapp Stephens. Harry was a United States Army veteran serving in Japan during WW II. He received the WW II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.
He married Leona P. Edwards on February 14, at the Batchellerville Church, who predeceased him in 2011.
Survivors include his favorite son, Gary Stephens (Deb) of Northville; daughters, Nancy Sauve (Andy) of Northville, Pat Curry of Johnstown, Janet Bunn of Gloversville and Susan Adams (Dave) of Northville. Several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive him.
Richard Bartholf
Mr. Richard E. Bartholf, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Denver, Colorado on November 24, 1927, he is the son of the late Benjamin A. and Adeline Crossley Bartholf. He was raised in Gloversville and a graduate of Gloversville High School, class of 1945.
Richard is a United States Army Veteran, he proudly served as Military Police during WWII. He has since served as town of Hope, Town Councilman, Hope Town Clerk for more than 30 years, Charter member of the Hope Volunteer Fire Company as well as the former Hope Volunteer Ambulance which he served as a driver; also a member of the Sacandaga Post 1076 American Legion.
