FORT WORTH — The Sandman Signature Fort Worth Downtown Hotel won’t be reopening anytime soon, as city staff wait for the investigation to be completed before beginning repairs.
Scot and Angela Cockroft say being in the elevator during the explosion turned out to be a blessing because they could have been injured if they remained on the first floor of the hotel.
The Sandman Signature Hotel in downtown Fort Worth, where an explosion injured multiple people Monday, opened less than a year ago in one of the city’s most historic towers.
One person was in critical condition, two others were in serious condition and eight others faced less serious injuries after an explosion in a downtown Fort Worth building.
Investigators believe the blast was caused by natural gas, said Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokesperson Sara Abel, who was briefed by local police.
