How people feel about the war. about half of all americans say both wars, both in iraq and afghanistan, have improved long-term security. u.s. officials admit that is a weak number, given that the u.s. has spent more than $1 trillion in iraq and afghanistan, and more than 5,500 troops have been killed in both wars. the fact is that as far as the war in afghanistan is concerned u.s. commanders admit that the next few months are only going to get more violent, and that could mean that americans, more americans, turn against the war. i m curious, what did the polls show about ending the war or talking to the taliban? yeah, it s a real fundamental question. u.s. commanders and u.s. diplomats in afghanistan all believe that this war will not end by killing more taliban or seizing more land. ultimately, as one commander recently put it, this is going to end in an argument. and the u.s. public seems to be very against the notion of talking to the taliban, talking to insurgents. 51% of the ....
