COG Considers: The Value of Games With Gold
Every month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers receive at least 4 games to own for as long as they subscribe to the service. This past week, we learned which four games will be included with Games with Gold for March 2021, and for most, the first impression was clearly a big OOF.
The four games included are Warface Breakout: Gold Sun, VALA Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse, Metal Slug 3, and Port Royale 3. If you’re looking at that list of games and asking “what the heck are those games?”, you would be completely forgiven. Aside from Metal Slug 3, I had to Google the rest of those games. These seem like some seriously bottom-of-the-barrel games. Even worse, compare the four games PlayStation Plus subscribers will be receiving in March and it doesn’t even seem fair.

Games with Gold March: What is Warface Breakout and can I play it on Xbox Series X?

And while Warface is a free-to-play shooter, the Warface: Breakout spin-off is something different.
Taking its queue from Counter-Strike, the third season of content for the game launched back in December 2020, offering new maps and seasonal rewards for those jumping into the action.
Here’s the official description for those wondering what Warface: Breakout is: “Inspired by the gunplay-focused, grounded gameplay of Counter-Strike, Warface: Breakout is a standalone spin-off in the Warface franchise where players are challenged to become the ultimate mercenaries in a dark, futuristic world.
“From launch, Breakout’s focus will be on the classic Search and Destroy mode. In this mode, two teams compete to either plant and detonate a bomb or stop the other team in their tracks. Successful combat achievements, like killing an opponent and planting or defusing the bomb, are rewarded with credits. These can then be spent on different weapons at the beginning of every round through the arms store.

March Games with Gold brings Warface: Breakout, Metal Slug 3, and more

Today, Microsoft announced the March 2021 Games with Gold, giving Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers a look at what experiences are heading their way for free next month. After the unusual five games selection from last month, Microsoft is back to its usual count this time.
The two waves of upcoming freebies include two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games, and all of them are also playable natively on the new Xbox Series X|S consoles thanks to backward compatibility.
