Hope Sandoval grew up in Southern California, a poor student who found herself drawn to music, Eventually she dropped out of high school starting in a folk duo, and eventually morphing into a rock band called Mazzy Star. On their second album Mazzy Star had a breakthrough hit with “Fade Into You” and this song remains their biggest hit. After a third album, the band went on a hiatus in 1997 which lasted until 2011.
