The police partner of slain officer Senior Constable Brett Forte has become emotional as she described him as a "very ethical" man who knew the law "inside and out".
Senior Constable Cath Nielsen is today giving evidence at the inquest into her former partner's murder after she survived the shooting that killed him.
Sen Const Forte was killed on May 29, 2017, by known criminal Ricky Maddison, following a low-speed pursuit at Seventeen Mile in the Lockyer Valley.

The court heard Maddison's behaviour had become increasingly erratic in the days leading up to Sen Const Forte's murder, with the gunman having spent two months avoiding an arrest warrant over a domestic violence matter.

AN Ipswich childcare worker helped a baby marsupial escape a slow and painful death after she found the youngster in the pouch of its dead mother.
Exiting the Warrego Hwy onto Holdsworth Rd, North Ipswich, on Monday night, Emma William noticed a possum on the road, which appeared to have recently been struck by a car.
“I knew there hadn’t been a possum there before, when I’d driven through that way,” Emma said.
“I had this feeling so I turned around and pulled over and check.”
As she walked toward the animal, about 9.30pm, she noticed movement.

Drivers are “just not getting the lesson” police have said, after conducting a major blitz on the weekend that led to more than 40 infringement notices and several arrests.
Two drivers were busted more than 20 kilometres above the speed limit and another 29 were caught speeding, showing some people have “no regard for the road rules or other road users,” officer-in-charge of Laidley police, Senior Sergeant Regan Draheim said.
Senior Sergeant Draheim said a 65-year-old Laidley man was caught driving under the influence of drugs while another two males were “located and arrested” on outstanding warrants.

UPDATE, 5.20pm: Peak-hour traffic is reportedly starting to flow once more, following a multi-vehicle collision on the Ipswich Mwy.
Queensland Traffic Metro confirmed the scene had been cleared just after 5.15pm on Monday.
There were no injuries reported.
INITIAL, 5pm: A multi-vehicle collision is causing a headache for peak-hour motorists returning from the city.
The incident took place on the Warrego Hwy exit from the Ipswich Mwy at Riverview.
It is understood a westbound left lane was blocked as a result.
Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance were unable to provide further details.
Minor delays are expected.
