True crime stories of murder and mystery in Ilkley and Otley

THE Grove Bookshop in Ilkley has taken delivery of a new book, The Dark Side of the Dales by Mark Bridgeman.
Published by Watermill Books in conjunction with Grove Bookshop the book is a compilation of 20 true crime stories from newspaper archives, including events in Ilkley, Otley and Wharfedale from 1835 to the 1980s.
The stories of murder, mystery and myth include: murders in Ilkley and Otley; a body in a trunk mystery in Wharfedale; fraudulent marriage offers and jewel robberies in Harrogate.
Mystery and intrigue, local stories often half-remembered, the book has something for everyone.
