Don Miller is the owner of the Waterside Wine Bar in Phelps and is in-studio to talk about being a new business owner, dealing with the collapse of their retaining wall on Christmas Day, the “Phelps Triangle” along with his career as a Section V high school basketball referee. PHELPS â It was not the kind of text Don and JoEllen Miller were expecting to receive on Christmas morning.
Instead of holiday wishes, it was a friend, informing them that part of their Waterside Wine Bar on Main Street in Phelps was damaged. A retaining wall connected to the building fell into Flint Creek, and the wall took a corner of the building foundation with it.
âI was like, âOh, Lord,ââ said Don by phone with his wife on Sunday morning. âIt is crazy. But youâve got to look at the positives. Weâre extremely thankful that no one was injured.â
