In my childhood years, the workaday world ground to a halt on the seventh day of the week and we enjoyed family time. All of the stores on Picton’s Main Street closed their doors, with the exception of just one drug store and the Bowl-O-Drome. Each pharmacy took its turn at keeping Sunday hours, enabling local residents to fill prescriptions in the event of an emergency. Local physicians also took their turns at being on-call.
