Several new features have been ordered for Washington’s skate park in Optimist Park, which, once installed, will complete the $150,000 renovation of the facility.

After receiving a report about damage to park grounds by users parking in the grass near the soccer fields, the parks department is looking for solutions to the problem. Parking at Lakeview fields near Lions Lake was an ongoing issue this past fall during the Washington Soccer Association’s season, and parking in the grass has resulted in damage to the park’s grounds, according to Wayne Dunker, parks and recreation director.  Drivers parked cars in the grass located to the right of the Lakeview Fields’ parking lot “creating a muddy mess ... and compacting the soil on to...
