"As we’re having more of our mid-level practitioners out there, people don’t know who is treating them. So, it wasn’t geared at all specifically for ophthalmology or optometrist, it’s more in the general range," Republican Sen. Gayle Harrell said. If signed into law, one of the changes would be that optometrists would not be referred to as physicians.
