In Brief Apple on Monday patched security flaws in its software said to have been exploited in the wild by miscreants to hijack gear.
WebKit, fixed in macOS Big Sur 11.3.1, can be tricked into executing arbitrary code by processing malicious web content – a bad webpage can take over the browser, in other words. "Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited," it said in its advisory.
Specifically, there are two bugs: memory corruption flaw CVE-2021-30665, which was found by a trio at 360 ATA, and an integer overflow issue CVE-2021-30663, credited to an anonymous researcher. The same holes are fixed in iOS 14.5.1 and iPadOS 14.5.1, and the memory corruption problem is addressed in watchOS 7.4.1.

Apple patches actively exploited vulnerabilities
Featured
Just days after the arrival of major updates for Apple's operating systems, the company has released a fresh round of security updates for macOS, iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.
Apple's latest security updates address issues in the WebKit and WebKit Storage frameworks that allow maliciously crafted content to execute arbitrary code.
These vulnerabilities are reportedly being actively exploited.
The updates address CVEs 2021-30661, 2021-30663, 2021-30665, 2021-30666.
Three of the issues were discovered by members of the Qihoo 360 ATA team, and the fourth by an anonymous researcher.
There is no indication at this time whether older versions of macOS such as Catalina and Mojave are affected, or if any of the vulnerabilities are present and exploitable in tvOS.

Until now, Facebook and other apps have been able to mine data from iPhones if users had not changed their settings to prevent it, which very few people did.
But once the software update is installed, all apps - even those already on the device - will be required to ask and receive consent to track your online activity.
