RESIDENTS in Norton were faced with a frozen lake of raw sewage in the gardens this morning following the severe flooding. Rising water levels resulted in drains becoming overwhelmed with water including human waste, condoms, toilet paper and sanitary products. Cllr Di Keal, a member of Ryedale District Council, said: Residents on St Nicholas Street in Norton woke up this morning to a frozen lake of sewage in gardens behind their homes - still there after repeated calls to Yorkshire Water to come and remove the foul stagnant water and material that has been surrounding property for four days. “While we appreciate that Yorkshire Water has finally arrived this afternoon (Sunday) to remove the foul liquid, this has left a thick layer of human waste on residents back doorsteps. They now must send clean up teams in as a matter of urgency to deal with this disgusting debris. ....
