Three astronauts lifted off to China's nearly completed space station on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the country's long-term presence in space.
A Long March 2F rocket launched the three-person Shenzhou 15 mission toward the Tiangong space station today (Nov. 29) at 10:08 a.m. EST (1508 GMT).
The Shenzhou 15 crew will take over from three fellow space station fliers as China establishes a permanent presence in low-Earth orbit.
China successfully launched the Shenzhou-15 manned spacecraft via a Long March-2F carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Tuesday, which marked the completion, within two years, of all 11 space launch missions scheduled at the construction stage for the country's first permanent space station.
