Submitted by Kathy Fields Kamryn Fields is graduating Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University this May with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science. Kamryn made the Fall 2020 President s List after earning a 4.0 for her final undergraduate semester. She will begin the Doctor of Physical Therapy Graduate Program at Central Michigan this summer. Kamryn is a 2017 graduate of Lockport Township High School. ....
Bottled water drive organized for people in Reform West Alabama town getting help with water problems By Kelvin Reynolds | February 11, 2021 at 6:30 PM CST - Updated February 11 at 7:45 PM REFORM, Ala. (WBRC) - Northport City Councilman Woodrow Washington felt compelled to do something after learning the trouble people in Reform were having with their water. “Once the message comes out that you’re boiling water we all know it’s an issue,” Washington said. Now, Washington has organized a bottled water drive. He and others with Academics in Action, a non-profit affiliated with Northport’s Robert Hassan Community Center, are collecting bottled water to give to people in Reform. ....
Tuscaloosa Co. Dems Host Food Drive for West Alabama Food Bank The Tuscaloosa County Democratic Party (TCDP) is hosting a food drive for the West Alabama Food Bank. “We want to help people here in our community in these extraordinary times,” the TCDP posted on its Facebook page Friday. Donation drop-off is available at the party’s headquarters, located at 3311 Loop Road in Tuscaloosa, every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays until Feb. 26. West Alabama Food Bank Needs Post-Holiday Help Enter your number to get our free mobile app As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout the community, the West Alabama Food Bank needs the public s help trekking through the post-holiday lull in food donations. During November and December, food pantries like WAFB experience increased levels of volunteering and food donations due to an eagerness in do-gooders to give back to their communities. This year, however, January seems longer and harder for more people in West Alabama than ever before. WAFB Volunteer Coordinator Tucker Brown explained that the University of Alabama’s two-week moratorium added to the absence of volunteers, as many are UA students and university-affiliated clubs and organizations. ....
VFW Organizing Donation Drive for Victims of Cottondale Fire For the next several days, the VFW is urging people to donate adult clothes of all sizes, as well as non-perishable foods to the VFW post located in Cottondale. No children were affected by the blaze, so there is no current need for kids items. A huge part of the VFW is community service.
