Hawks Host Top Ten Bears


 
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back at home Friday when they welcome the West Branch Bears to Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. The Golden Hawk girls are 9-9 on the season and 8-8 in the River Valley Conference after a 43-38 loss to Wilton on Tuesday. In that game, Mid-Prairie was led by Maddie Nonnenmann’s 16 points and Myah Lugar’s 13 points. On the season, Nonnenmann leads the Hawks with 14 points and seven rebounds per game. Amara Jones has the team lead with four assists and three steals per night.
West Branch comes into the contest with a record of 13-1 overall and in the RVC. The Bears are ranked No. 3 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Last time out, the Bears beat No. 11 West Liberty 46-39 with future Bradley Brave Sasha Koenig putting up 28 points.
