The City Council considered a land exchange with J.A. Woollam Co. in the Haymarket to create new parking areas to accommodate the city s new South Haymarket Park plans.
The West Haymarket Joint Public Agency conveyed 1.6 acres at Seventh and N streets to the city for $1 to use to expand the planned South Haymarket Park.
The West Haymarket Joint Public Agency said it will contribute another $4.5 million to the project, while its backers will raise another $2.25 million in private money.
