Anum Qaisar-Javed: SNP Westminster hopeful 'not complacent' despite party win


SHE’S been on the Scottish Parliament campaign trail for weeks while running her own push for Westminster.
Going by last week’s Holyrood election results, the odds are in SNP candidate Anum Qaisar-Javed’s favour ahead of this week’s Airdrie and Shotts by-election.
The vacancy opened up when the SNP’s Neil Gray resigned from the seat to stand in for the Scottish Parliament. He was successful, as was every other SNP constituency candidate in North Lanarkshire.
The local authority area, once solidly Labour red, is once again completely yellow – voters elected five separate SNP MSPs, including Clare Adamson, Jamie Hepburn, Fulton MacGregor and Stephanie Callaghan. ....

NHS Lanarkshire chiefs sorry over mix-up in change of asthmatic patient's inhaler


The consultant at North Lanarkshire s Monklands was absolved of blame over the decision to recommend the change
HEALTH chiefs have apologised to an asthmatic patient for a mix-up over a change in their inhaler. 
The individual, known only as C, suffered breathing difficulties after the move was recommended by a specialist at Airdrie s University Hospital Monklands. 
However, a watchdog found the consultant had not been aware of the patient s condition due to an admin mistake and absolved the medic of any blame. 
The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) did, however, tell NHS Lanarkshire bosses to say sorry and to make people more aware in future of the possible risks and benefits of changing inhalers.  ....
