Delving into DMC: More than ‘dates on a calendar’
For the first time in its history, Football Australia has unveiled a Domestic Match Calendar (DMC) – and its main architect believes it could be a game changer.
Developed in line with the XI Principles for the future of Australian football, the DMC aims to connect all tiers domestically, and the game globally, by harmonising key dates in the domestic football schedule with FIFA’s International Match Calendar, and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competition dates. It also sets out plans for domestic registration periods or transfer windows.
Football Australia CEO, James Johnson, unveiled the DMC last month after a lengthy process that was led by Trevor Morgan – the governing body’s Technical Director. In announcing the DMC, Football Australia recognised that 2021 will be a transition year, and that it expects to achieve even greater alignment in 2022 “as COVID-19 eases” and the game consi ....

National Premier Leagues set to kick-off in NSW and Victoria tonight
The National Premier Leagues (NPL) returns for 2021 this weekend with New South Wales and Victoria both kicking off their respective men’s competitions tonight.
Four games will take place this evening, with Manly United and Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC scheduled as the first clash of 2021. Kick-off at Cromer Park on the Northern Beaches will be at 7:00pm, with Marconi Stallions FC taking on Sydney FC at Marconi Stadium 45 minutes later.
Each round 1 NPL NSW Men’s match will observe a minutes’ silence to pay respect to Idriss El-Hafiane, the former Rockdale Ilinden star who tragically passed away recently. Rockdale Ilinden will also be hosting a special tribute to El-Hafiane prior to their round 1 clash against Wollongong Wolves at Ilinden Sports Centre. ....

IRISH INTERNATIONAL JULIE-ANN Russell scored her first goal in the Australian top-flight earlier today, her first-half effort turning out to be match-winner for Western Sydney Wanderers in their 1-0 Westfield W-League victory over Perth Glory.
Russell’s goal, which came on the brink of half time, ended a five-game winless run for her side and kept their final hopes alive after downing the league’s bottom-placed side. ....
