By David Bonilla Apr 29, 2021 Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the San Francisco 49ers roster. There was some doubt whether or not that would be the case. Reports surfaced that the team might look to trade the quarterback before or during the 2021 NFL Draft. The 49ers drafted Garoppolo's eventual replacement on Thursday night, selecting Trey Lance of North Dakota State with the No. 3 overall pick. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has repeatedly stated that Garoppolo remains in the 49ers' plans for the upcoming season and is slated to be the team's starter. That will allow the incoming rookie the luxury ...

1.3k Adam Schefter is among those who spearheaded the rampant speculation that the San Francisco 49ers were likely to select Mac Jones of Alabama. Of course, along the way, he acknowledged that was speculation based on what he heard from around the league. No one outside of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch knew what the team's decision-makers were thinking. Schefter repeatedly made that clear. One of the criticisms of Lance was the former Bison's inexperience. The 49ers kept Jimmy Garoppolo, and the plan is for the veteran to be the team's starter for the upcoming seaso...

299 Don't expect running back Trey Sermon to have a hard time fitting in once he starts his career with the San Francisco 49ers. According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the San Francisco 49ers have narrowed their focus at pick three to two quarterbacks: Mac Jones of Alabama and Trey Lance of North Dakota State. Rapoport posted the news on Twitter Sunday evening. As the #49ers close in on their decision of which QB to take at No. 3, sources say they are down to two prospects — and the belief is those two are #Bama QB Mac Jones and #NDSU QB Trey Lance. Several sources say the focus does appear to have shifted to those two.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 26, 2021

Pelissero: Mac Jones a good draft fit for 49ers but keep an eye on Trey Lance By David Bonilla Apr 22, 2021 NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport joined NFL Network on Thursday and discussed the looming quarterback question that the San Francisco 49ers have to answer next week during the draft. Will it be Mac Jones of Alabama, as many are predicting? Or will the team ruin everyone's mock drafts and take Justin Fields of Ohio State or Trey Lance of North Dakota State? While Jones is viewed as more pro-ready right now, Fields and Lance are viewed as more athletic and having higher ceil...
