TUPELO – On June 7, 2023, Natchez Trace Parkway Rangers conducted operations to detect and apprehend people engaging in illicit sexual activity in the Parkway’s parking lots and other public areas. The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals: • Larry Parker of Bruce, MS, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said 50-year-old William Abernathy is charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving.
