Stamford Man Dies In Maine Snowmobile Accident


A Fairfield County man was killed in a snowmobile crash in Maine.
William Arnow, age 33, of Stamford, was killed around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, in a fatal crash in which officials said speed and alcohol appear to be factors, said Mark Latti, with the Maine Warden Service.
According to Latti, Arnow was traveling on a 2019 Ski-Doo MXZ on ITS trail 89 in Dallas Plantation heading towards Rangeley when he crashed head-on into a powerline pole located off the side of the trail. 
Arnow and a friend were out for a quick ride on separate snowmobiles and had just turned around and were headed back to their property rental in Rangeley when the friend noticed there no longer were snowmobile headlights following him. ....

STAMFORD Friends of a city resident killed in a snowmobiling accident in Maine earlier this week have taken to social media to remember the man as outgoing and one of a kind.
Police in Maine said Wednesday that 33-year-old William Arnow, of Stamford, died after a snowmobile crash on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, Erica Sabina Giannitti said in a post on Facebook that she was sending love to the Arnow family and friends after news of his death. ....

DALLAS PLANTATION A Connecticut man was killed in a snowmobile crash Tuesday night on ITS 89, according to Mark Latti, spokesman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
William Arnow, 33 of Stamford, Connecticut, was operating a 2019 Ski Doo MXZ in the Franklin County plantation east of Rangeley when he crashed into a powerline pole along the trail about 10:30 p.m., Latti wrote in a news release.
Arnow and a friend were out for a quick ride on separate snowmobiles and had just turned around to return to their property rental in Rangeley when the friend noticed there no longer were snowmobile headlights behind him, Latti said. ....
