OXFORD â The city of Oxford has begun its search for a new police chief with Alvin Coley set to retire from the position on Aug. 1.
Coley has enjoyed building relationships with Oxfordâs residents and leaders since taking over the police chief position in 2013 but he said that he is ready to start a new chapter in his life following a distinguished career in law enforcement.
âIâve spent 34 years and 10 months in law enforcement, so itâs just time,â Coley said. âI want to spend some time with my family. After doing this for so long, I need to venture down some other avenues and kick back and relax a little bit.â
