HOLMDEL — The will be sledding at a Monmouth County park after all. The sledding hills at Holmdel Park and Wolf Hill Recreation Area in Oceanport were declared off limits for sledding by the Monmouth County Park System over concerns about exceeding Gov. Phil Murphy's executive order limiting outdoor gatherings to just 25 people because of the coronavirus pandemic. SMITHFIELD – Santa Claus is taking three nights off from his busy schedule this week to visit Smithfield neighborhoods, says Town Manager Randy Rossi. Leaving his flying sleigh in the North Pole to prepare for his big night, Santa is teaming up with the Smithfield Fire Department to ride along on a firetruck in different parts of town on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights. For children hoping to use the sleds that have been gathering dust for a few light-snow years, two parks in Monmouth County were off limits after Wednesday's nor'easter because of Gov. Phil Murphy's executive order limiting outdoor gatherings. During the recent surge in positive coronavirus cases, Murphy lowered the limit on outdoor gatherings to just 25.
