New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority has a 99.4% success rate repairing air conditioning on its subway cars, according to Richard Davey, president of the New York Transit Authority. The older trains on the A, C, No. 1 and Rockaway shuttle lines are often those affected by air conditioning issues, but newer models will have automatic temperature sensors to provide early warning of problems. Services are typically out of action for between one and six hours for repairs, depending on the specific problem.
