Greenock mum tells of shock over discovery of her chronic brain condition

A DETERMINED Greenock mum has told how she is readjusting to her busy family life after discovering she has a chronic brain condition.
Lynsey Taggart, 28, found out last February that she had idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) - a condition associated with increased fluid on the brain and pressure behind the eyes.
Before she was diagnosed, she had suffered terrible migraines and fatigue.
An eye test at her opticians revealed she had papilledema - a serious swelling of the optic nerve.
The mum-of-two was sent to Inverclyde Royal in a bid to deal with the situation, but she suffered a spinal leak after a lumbar puncture.

Mayfield School pupils and staff meet Copeland MP Trudy Harrison

Mayfield School pupils and staff meet Copeland MP Trudy Harrison
Sam Kidd and Trudy Harrison at Mayfield School
Staff and pupils at Mayfield School had a socially distanced visit from Copeland MP Trudy Harrison recently.
Following a campaign led by local parents to secure their children a place at the SEN school after they were originally denied one by Cumbria County Council due to limited places, Trudy Harrison MP was invited along to meet with staff, pupils and headteacher, Sam Kidd at the school in Whitehaven.
During the campaign, the Copeland MP called for an urgent meeting with Cumbria County Council’s assistant director after dozens of parents contacted her after receiving the news that their children had not been given a place.

This week in school, my eight-year-old daughter Agatha fielded questions from the class on what it is like to have an autistic twin brother.
They asked why Benjamin bursts into her classroom for a hug, why he has his own one-to-one teacher and whether he will “grow out of it?”
