Washington, D.C. (April 20, 2022) –World Resources Institute today announced that PepsiCo, the University of Texas at Austin, ISS World Services A/S and healthcare organizations Providence and the Mount Sinai Health System have committed to serve more climate-friendly food through its Cool Food Pledge -- a growing movement of workplaces, hotels, universities, hospitals and restaurants aiming to slash food-related greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030.

Global News: The Taliban have issued even more restrictive edicts in Afghanistan, after recent news that the all-male government would prevent girls from attending school after Grade 6, and that women would be disallowed from boarding flights without male chaperones. After the U.S. and NATO evacuated their troops from Afghanistan in mid-August and the country slipped back under Taliban control, the international community has waited to see if this new government would revert back to how the Taliban ruled in the late 1990s.

At least four news broadcasters have been taken off air, eight media workers arrested, and two media houses shuttered by the Taliban since March 26, amid a wide-reaching ban on foreign media. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its Afghanistan affiliate, the Afghanistan National Journalists' Union (ANJU), call for the immediate release of the detained journalists and the retraction of all arbitrary restrictions on both national and international media with the intention of stifling press freedom.
