Wilmington-area support groups meets virtually or in-person weekly

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) has awarded grant funding to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, in Wilmington, N.C. to help fund their “Injury Prevention for Memory Partners” program, which helps equip family caregivers with the resources, education, and safety equipment needed to prevent injuries and incidences of wandering among their loves one who are living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
“Every family caregiver’s biggest concern is the health and safety of their loved one,” said AFA President & CEO Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. “We are pleased to support Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in providing families affected by Alzheimer’s disease with valuable resources to help them protect their loved ones.” ....

Local churches plan Easter sunrise services and traditional celebrations

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. After Covid caused many religious services to go virtual the greater part of 2020, church-goers will be able to worship together once again in some form or fashion this Easter weekend.
Numerous services are planned for Sunday, Apr. 4, like The Bridge Presbyterian Church in Leland’s sunrise service at Brunswick Riverwalk. There are also other events, like an outdoor family festival on Saturday at Pine Valley Baptist. Egg hunts will get under way for the kids and a food truck will be on site. ....

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare will offer a multi-week, free virtual grief care program for those coping with the death of a spouse or partner on Wednesdays, March 10, 17, 24, 31.
The group will be held 12-1:30 p.m. in a secure virtual environment. Registration is required; to register, please call 1-800-379-4880 and a grief counselor will contact you.
