The Twins and Tigers own the two worst records in baseball, and both lost their most-recent series. Now, Minnesota and Detroit will play a three-game series that I would entirely ignore if I wasn’t a baseball bettor. But there’s definitely value to be found in this series opener, and I’m willing to bet any game regardless of entertainment value. Odds as of Thursday morning via BetMGM. The Miami Marlins look to grab their first series sweep Thursday when they send Pablo López to the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks. López has yet to win a decision despite pitching to a 2.34 ERA this season. He’ll be opposed by Arizona’s Madison Bumgarner, who has had a bit of resurgence of late. After an 0-2 start, Bumgarner has won his last three starts, including a hitless performance in a seven-inning game against the Atlanta Braves. While there’s no question Bumgarner is probably in his best form since joining Arizona, the biggest challenge he faces in the Diamondbacks might be on offense. Arizona has been decimated by injuries to start the season and their lack of success at Marlins Park in recent years warrants sufficient concern.

TV Odds as of Thursday and via PointsBet Friday afternoon’s game between the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers appears to be a lopsided matchup at first glance. The Dodgers are the defending World Series champion with Walker Buehler on the mound, and the Nationals are a .500 level team. However, if you look at the game closely enough, Washington has a plausible chance of winning. The Dodgers are relying on a strong effort from Buehler who is not expected to pitch deep into the game. The Nationals have a lineup with a few dangerous hitters and should make the game interesting.

So far, the Twins have gotten off to a hot start and lead the division with a 4-2 record. On Thursday, Minnesota hosts Seattle in what should be a lopsided game. The Mariners are a perpetual AL West botto- dweller, and this season they continue to rebuild. Appropriately, the Twins have opened as -180 moneyline favorites. According to my model, the Twins should be -181 favorites, so there is no money to be won in the long term in taking their moneyline. However, their team total has been set too low and that is why I am betting on the Twins to score over 4.5 runs at +105 odds.
