Nestled between the Serengeti and Lake Victoria, the Maasai people of Kenya have a traditional greeting which has been learned all over the world: “Eserian nakera?” In English it means, “And how are the children?” The response is: “All the children are well.”
American culture places a high value on youth with a varying degree of meaning. The tech-driven generations, of which I am a part of, have been raised to simultaneously see the cash value our country places on us and the great social power we wield from sheer numbers.  ....

Growing up is just as hard as it was for previous generations with the distinction of an ever-growing inundation of digital content shaping our values and worldview. The COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis have also affected our youth. So, in Gainesville, we would do well to ask,  How are the children?”  ....
