Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, concluded his visit to Goa by adopting a Jack Russell Terrier puppy from a dog kennel. He had sent a representative to inquire about the availability of the breed, and he personally went to see the chosen puppy before taking it home. The kennel owner, Shivani Pitre, praised his warm nature and mentioned that he interacted with the dogs like a friend. Jack Russell Terriers are known for their intelligence and keen sense of smell. The breed has recently gained recognition for its ability to detect mines left behind by Russian forces in reclaimed territories.

This comes a week after the party was hit with reports of internal mutiny and right ahead of the presidential election on July 18. The Congress fears that some of the MLAs might cross vote, bringing further embarrassment to the party.
